Australian Tampons

Tampons are SO much more glamorous in Australia.

Note from Mystery Mailer:
"Meow! Aren't those just the cutest? I accidently left a can on my boss's desk, and she thought it was candy and opened it. What a stroke of marketing genius!"

Mystery Mail sponsor for San Francisco's Bazaar Bizarre

Mystery Mail has been in a bit of a slumber as of late. Sorry about that.
But there are new and exciting plans in the near future: We are proud to announce our soon -to-be sponsorship status for this winter's Bazaar Bizarre Craft Fest in San Francisco.

Mystery Mail aims to tap into the collective crafty consciousness for some super-great mailings. You can practically smell the postal droppings from here.

Check out this cake from last year's show:

Carrie cake. yum.

Amsterdam Package

HA!

Mystery Mail is finally all caught up with post-trip business (and pleasure), and ready to regroup. The Mystery Mail package was FINALLY sent out today to a lucky recipient. We had to mail it from the states, as Holland has privatized their mail service. Not only is it hard to even find a post office, it costs a proverbial arm and a leg to mail stuff out.
Monitor those mail boxes....

More goodies from a Bangkok mystery package...

Movie Magnets

When you go to the movies in Bangkok, the cinema will give you, along with your ticket, a fridge magnet advertising a future release. This particular horror film was very popular (this kid looks mopey and dilated).

Tuk-Tuk Taxi
When in Bankok, the Tuk-Tuk is your taxi:

Our mailer defined the tuk-tuk as a "3-wheeled taxi, always good for a scary ride and an argument about the fare."

This toy Tuk-Tuk must the Barbie version...

Bangkok package

Who doesn't love a good package from overseas? This one's Thai-rific:

The image below is a pack of Durian Chips. The Durian is that freaky Southeast Asian plant that tastes amazing, yet smells so bad (like rotted flesh, to be exact), it's banned from public places such as Hotels and airports. Which is probably why they've got signs up in public places like this....

And apparently they make chips out of it:
Note from the sender:
"Durian. Mmmmm. Banned from many enclosed spaces because of the rotting-meat smell, this "king of fruits" is highly prized. The chips are great, but no smell."

Mystery Mail: It's real "EDUTAINMENT."

Takin' the Mystery to the streets: Amsterdam & Brussels

Mystery Mail administrators will embark on a campaign & "fact-finding mission" to Amsterdam and Brussels in late March. We will canvas European cafes and galleries with Mystery Mail flyers to help with some of this European momentum that's been building.

As an added bonus, we'll be dipping our administrative fingers into the Mystery Mail participant pot and picking out a recipient for a surprise European mystery package!!

So now's the time to mail out those packages you've been sitting on (I'm looking at you, Northern & Southern Californians!). Eligible recipients will be picked on March 21st.

Mystery Mail Factoids...

We're getting quite a few overseas Mystery Mail participants. Here are some interesting no-no's for those of us in the U.S. mailing packages to Scotland and England:

NO:
  • Goods made in foreign prisons.
  • Horror comics and matrices.
  • Obscene articles, prints, paintings, cards, films, videotapes, etc. (I wonder who exactly gets to decide what’s “obscene” at the post office?)
  • Seal skins except those from an accepted source.
  • Switchblade knives.

Remember, check out the USPS website (link is to the right) before you mail.

The Mystery Mail "You Give Good Package" Award

We've been hearing about some pretty nifty packages.

If you've ever seen the Mystery Mail office, you know that Mystery Mail is kind of an awards junkie. The walls are adorned with silly certificates for things like "excellence in hating Becky Dodd" (displaying our college diploma kind of isn't our thing).

This is probably why we've now come up with the semi-annual “You give good package” Mystery Mailer award. The winner will receive a special gift, along with a certificate praising their expert ability at giving "great package." Check your email boxes for additional info.

Good luck!

I'm gonna Mystery Mail yo ass

The holidays are knocking at our collective psyche, and Mystery Mail is feelin' it. Mystery Mail has decided to send out a couple of extra packages to unsuspecting recipients. That's right: I've located my stash of bubblewrap, and I know how to use the sewing machine. Let's see how many bubble wrap coats, ties and dresses I can make
....just in time for holliday parties...

Maiden Mystery Mail package

The maiden Mystery Mail package has now been sent! It included this crazy sweater I created (just in time for the cool weather!) . I went to a thrift store and picked up this black sweater and a couple of stuffed animals. I severed their heads, and sewed them onto the chest. I call it the manic-depressive boobies muppet head sweater! The package also included a Star Wars tie I found at the dollar store (it had a Jedi with a life saber on it!), and a Buddha head (dollar store find, as well), which I spraypainted pink and filled with chocolates.

...now that I've had the pleasure of sending out the first Mystery Mail package, it's time for everyone else to get a chance to dole out their own mysterious mailings. We'll assign the Mystery Mail matches this weekend and inform everyone very soon.
